  • Ingredients

    Organic Apricots

  • Allergen Statement

We pack a wide range of natural food products on shared equipment including nuts, seeds, grains and cereals. This includes sesame, peanuts, soy and gluten. While we do our best to avoid any kind of cross contamination, this can sometimes occur and therefore any of our products may contain traces of nuts and gluten.

  • Did You Know?

That ONE conventional apricot contains more than the maximum amount of sulphur preservative recommended for a child to consume in an entire day?!

    What’s with Sulphur?

The food Australian children consume the most that has the highest amount of sulphate is dried apricots!
In Australia, dried fruit typically contains extremely high amounts of sulphites – 3,000 parts per million (ppm) compared to 1,000 ppm in the EU, and far higher per serve than any other food consumed by children.
Used as a preservative, sulphites prevent the growth of bacteria and also inhibit enzymes which cause food to discolour.

Sulphites have a few names and numbers, so watch out for anything in the 220-228 range. Sodium and potassium sulphite, sulphur dioxide, sodium and potassium bisulphite, and the metabisulphites.

They’re no good for our health:
Sulphites have been associated with a range of symptoms including:

    Headaches
    Irritable bowel symptoms and nausea
    Behaviour disturbance
    Skin rashes
    Respiratory challenges
Best known for triggering asthma attacks (the World Health Organisation has called for sulphites to be reduced and phased out for this reason).
The effects of consumption are cumulative and often delayed. When sulphites are removed from the diet, children are generally much calmer and have a greater ability to concentrate and learn.

You might think our dried apricots look a little funny – 'off' even. But in this case, that's a good thing! Dried apricots are usually processed using sulphur dioxide to keep the bright orange colour of the ripe fruit. Our organic apricots are free from sulphur and sun dried naturally!

  • Description

Dried naturally under the Turkish sun, these apricots are plump and moist, with an intensely sweet flavour and juicy texture. An excellent substitute for fresh apricots out of season. Perfect as a nutritious snack, or try adding them to your muesli and trail mixes.

Apricots are known to be great for...

    Vision, immunity, skin and teeth:
The beta-carotene content of dried apricots makes them especially rich in Vitamin A. Vitamin A is an antioxidant and is essential for cell growth. It's also great for your eyesight, boosts your immune system and gives your skin and teeth a boost.

    Cholesterol levels & healthy bowels:
Soluble dietary fibre binds fatty acids to encourage excretion, and also helps move things through the digestive tract quickly.

    Bones & blood pressure:
Apricots promote healthy bones and digestion as they are a source of potassium. Potassium is a mineral and electrolyte that can also help aid blood pressure.

    Iron levels:
Did you know that dried apricots are a more significant source of iron than fresh apricots?! Go figure. All plant based sources of iron are what's called non-heme iron and can be harder to absorb. Consuming with vitamin C (hello apricots!) can help absorption rates.

Organic drying produces a delicious apricot with a dark orange hue, sweet taste and soft, juicy texture. These organic Turkish apricots are plump and moist, and make an excellent substitute for fresh apricots out of season. Full of goodness and intense flavour, apricots are also high in fibre and contain high levels of Vitamin A, which promotes healthy vision. Eat them as a snack, or try adding them to your muesli or trail mixes.

Note that these organic apricots are darker in colour as they have been dried naturally under the Turkish sun without the use of preservatives like sulphur dioxide.

As this is a preservative-free product, higher temperatures can cause the moisture and the sugar in the fruit to start the fermentation process, so we recommend refrigeration.
