Many customers find this product very calming to their skin. It is made with a blend of pure hydrosols of damask rose and lemon balm, designed to help balance sebum and restore skin pH, preparing the skin for moisturiser application. Damask rose is known to help reduce feelings of stress and anxiety, while lemon balm is mildly astringent, and is both calming and anti-depressant. On the skin, the anti-inflammatory effect is very noticeable for some people. Spraying the mist over the face after cleansing also provides the perfect base on which to apply Mokosh' water-free moisturisers.
Spray onto face and neck after cleansing and follow with your choice of Mokosh moisturiser. May be used regularly throughout the day to refresh the skin. For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes.
Mokosh was founded in 2006 by Dr Marion O’Leary, a former veterinarian, pathologist and medical scientist. ‘A series of events led me to look at the ingredients used in skin care products. The more I researched, the more concerned I became about the long-term health effects of exposure to widely used ingredients. In particular, some of the common preservatives, which are added to virtually all products, may be absorbed into the body with potentially harmful effects. Other synthetic ingredients like emulsifiers are routinely added to moisturisers - these are detergent-like molecules that can interfere with the skin’s barrier function, and most are derived from environmentally-damaging palm oil. I decided there had to be a better way, and that it was time to reinvent the way we use skin care.’
A few years later she started working with Jayne Bland who introduced her to the ancient Indian science of Ayurveda, which inspired and influenced how they formulated Mokosh products.
Mokosh products have been formulated using the latest scientific research to select botanical ingredients rich in nutrients known to support skin health, combined with knowledge from the ancient Indian science of Ayurveda. The products are designed to work in tandem with the body’s healing and regenerative systems. Users find that their skin responds with enhanced resilience, vibrance and health, revealing its own unique natural beauty.
In today’s fast-changing, consumer-based world, it has never been more important to be conscious of the humanitarian and environmental impact of what we consume. At Mokosh, they embrace the following:
FAIR TRADE INGREDIENTS
They use fair trade shea butter, cacao butter, coconut oil and coconut flour in their products. Buying fair trade means producers receive a higher price, ensure better working conditions, fair pay for women and children, and a higher chance of access to education.
Mokosh donate regularly to social and environmental causes. Over the years they have supported The Orangutan Project, Amnesty International, The Red Cross and The Thin Green Line Foundation. Currently they are supporting One Girl, whose mission is to educate girls in Africa.
PALM OIL FREE
No palm oil or palm oil derivatives have ever been used in Mokosh products. Mokosh is accredited Palm Oil Free with Palm Oil Investigations and certified palm oil free with Orangutan Alliance.
None of their products and none of their ingredients are tested on animals. Mokosh has cruelty free accreditation with Choose Cruelty Free.
Their products are packaged in recyclable glass and paper.
