Good things come in small packages, and this couldn’t be more true in the case of quinoa. Quinoa is one of the most nutritional grains on the planet. Seriously, the science is so good you’d think we made it up! It’s around 15% protein – very high for a plant source. It possesses all the essential amino acids, trace elements, and vitamins essential for maintaining human health. It is a good source of phosphorous, magnesium, and iron. Unlike other cereals, such as rice and wheat, which carry amino acids in the skin, quinoa’s amino acids are located in the core of the grain, where they are best kept safely for your consumption. One of quinoa’s most important amino acids is lysine. It’s vital for the development of brain cells, learning processes, physical growth, memory and reasoning. Quinoa is native to South America where it grows in the cool mountain climate. With more than double the amount of protein found in most standard grains, quinoa is an excellent source of phenols which destroy free radicals from the bloodstream. A natural appetite suppressant and high in dietary fibre, this superfood is yielded without the use of synthetic chemicals, pesticides or herbicides. Quinoa is easy to digest and naturally contains no gluten.
Quinoa can be substituted for most cereals and is a great replacement for rice or couscous, so you can use it accompany stir fries and other dishes. Make sure to rinse in cold water before use. Before cooking, thoroughly rinse the quinoa. To cook, mix one part quinoa to two parts water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and let simmer for 15-20 minutes.

This product is naturally gluten, nut and soy free. Please bear in mind that we do pack a wide range of natural food products on shared equipment including nuts, seeds, grains and cereals. This includes sesame, peanuts, soy and gluten. While we do our best to avoid any kind of cross contamination, this can occasionally occur and any of our products may contain traces of these, unless we have specified the product is otherwise certified.
TWC source this product as Certified Organic (spec sheets available on request). We then pack it down in a yet-to-be-certified organic facility. This means it can't be sold as Certified Organic (just 'Organic'). We're in the process of gaining our very own organic certification and expect this will be complete by mid 2019. It's then that these very same high quality organic products will regain their 'certified' status on the TWC website. Some old labels may say Certified Organic on them. The product is no different whatsoever and the pack down area uses all organic cleaning agents. Clear as mud? ;)
