Ground Inner Bark of Organic Slippery Elm
The inner bark of the slippery elm tree has been used as a herbal remedy for centuries. Native Americans traditionally used slippery elm in healing salves and poultices for wounds, boils, ulcers, burns, and skin inflammation. On contact with water, slippery elm powder becomes mucilaginous (gel-like) in texture which accounts for the majority of its medicinal properties.
It has soothing actions on all mucous membranes, including those of the digestive tract, urinary and respiratory tract and also soothes the skin on contact. It also has astringent effects, tightening the surfaces on which it contacts, providing an effective barrier to bacterial infection and alleviating diarrhoea. Slippery elm is also rich in nutrients and can be used as a gruel for infants, invalids and patients with intestinal inflammation.
Organic farming uses the best of traditional agriculture and responsiveness to the land to create biodiversity and environmental balance; a sustainable approach free from artificial intervention.
30 minutes before a meal, add half a teaspoon (2.5g) of Slippery Elm Powder to approximately 200ml of water, stir thoroughly then drink immediately.
Slippery elm can be sprinkled on food or added to a juice or smoothie. It may be taken up to three times daily, however, we recommend that you start with one dose daily and build up if required over a two to three week period.
This product is naturally gluten, nut and soy free. Please bear in mind that we do pack a wide range of natural food products on shared equipment including nuts, seeds, grains and cereals. This includes sesame, peanuts, soy and gluten. While we do our best to avoid any kind of cross contamination, this can occasionally occur and any of our products may contain traces of these, unless we have specified the product is otherwise certified.
TWC source this product as Certified Organic (spec sheets available on request). We then pack it down in a yet-to-be-certified organic facility. This means it can't be sold as Certified Organic (just 'Organic'). We're in the process of gaining our very own organic certification and expect this will be complete by the end of 2020. It's then that these very same high quality organic products will regain their 'certified' status on the TWC website. Some old labels may say Certified Organic on them. The product is no different whatsoever and the pack down area uses all organic cleaning agents. Clear as mud? ;)
