Detailed Description of Each Ingredient
This highly regarded and diverse superfood has been cultivated since the times of the ancient Mayans, and contains a unique blend of phytonutrients and antioxidants offering an array of nutritional benefits to support overall health and wellbeing.
Our raw Peruvian Cacao is made by cold pressing un-roasted cacao beans. This gentle method maintains the integrity of the plants molecular structure resulting in a higher antioxidant content and greater overall nutritional value of minerals such as magnesium, calcium, copper, zinc as well as other trace minerals.
Raw cacao empowers concentration, vitalises energy, uplifts mood and much more. It is known to protect cells from oxidation and inflammation, improve mental ability, support immune health, reduce chronic fatigue and may protect against cancer and heart disease. Raw cacao also contains powerful flavonoids and precursors to serotonin and dopamine, which have shown to alleviate depression, avert anxiety, minimise stress and stabilise mood.
A hybridised cross between spear- and water-mint, that has been used as herbal medicine for thousands of years in ancient Rome, Greek and Egypt. Peppermint has significant antimicrobial and antiviral activities, strong antioxidant and antitumor actions, and some antiallergenic potential. It has a cooling and calming effect on the body, soothes the gastric lining and promotes a stable and balanced gastrointestinal environment. Peppermint has shown to aid irritable bowel syndrome, skin conditions, headaches and nausea.
High-grade, finely ground, concentrated green tea powder. Tea-powdering originated in China in the 12th century and has a long history of use in traditional tea ceremonies in Japan. Matcha is rich in antioxidants, amino acids, chlorophyll, as well as other nutrients and vitamins. Matcha green tea also contains the highest concentration of catechins antioxidants compared to all natural fruits and vegetables on the ORAC scale. Research has shown that matcha can reduce the risk of cancer, inhibit tumour growth, protect against ultraviolet B radiation and improve immune system function. Studies show consuming catechin-rich matcha powder boosts the metabolism, significantly lowers body fat mass, BMI, body weight, subcutaneous fat and waist circumference. Its profile benefits exercise performance and helps speed recovery in athletes.
Matcha contains high levels of L-theanine which in combination with caffeine instils a state of relaxed alertness, thereby improving attention, memory and reaction time. Matcha is also naturally high in chlorophyll which makes it an effective detoxifier. Extensive research indicates it could aid
in the prevention and improvement of many diseases — especially heart disease, stroke, type II diabetes, cancer and obesity.
Known as the ‘tea of the gods’ in South America, yerba mate is said to possess more antioxidant benefits than green tea. The naturally caffeinated herb does not only enhance energy and focus effectively, but is also packed with polyphenols, which help strengthen the immune system. It contains a large number of vitamins, including B vitamins, vitamin A, C and E, as well as an impressive array of minerals, such as potassium, magnesium, calcium, iron, zinc and many others. These properties are what make yerba mate great for maintaining healthy skin, hair and muscles, promoting good eye health and cell growth, improving heart health and protecting against disease. Additionally, this herb has been demonstrated to improve digestion and encourage weight loss, and can be used as
a natural appetite suppressant.
Native to South America and the Southwestern United States, mesquite is a low GI sweetener that is high in protein. It is rich in a number of vitamins, minerals and amino acids such as magnesium, iron, potassium, zinc and calcium which is good for healthy skin, hair and bones. Mesquite has a high fibre content, low glycemic index, high mineral content, anti-fungal properties and immune-boosting abilities. Its abundance in soluble fibre helps a smooth digestion and healthy gut flora. The low glycemic index means that it does not need insulin to be broken down and won’t cause blood sugar spikes. Furthermore, mesquite is a source of omega-3s, which makes it good for controlling inflammation.
Has been used for more than 1,500 years by the people of South America and Japan, both as a medicine and natural sweetener. Stevia possesses anti-hyperglycaemic, anti-hypertensive, diuretic, anti-inflammatory, anti-diarrhoeal, and immune-modulatory actions. Research confirms stevia can significantly reduce fasting blood sugar levels, balance insulin resistance, aid in glucose regulation, manage weight, as well as many health problems linked to obesity, like diabetes and metabolic syndrome. Complexes in stevia have shown to significantly reduce in LDL cholesterol, triglycerides and blood pressure thereby protecting heart health and preventing future conditions such as atherosclerosis, heart attacks, and strokes. Stevia has been found to reduce bacterial formation in the mouth, as well as prevent cavities and gingivitis. The antibacterial properties are also beneficial in treating skin conditions such as eczema and dermatitis.

Meet The Supplier
Back to where it started
Just like the rest of us, Organic Merchants Tea know that tea makes everything better! Founded by the beautiful Chalimah Jeanne, the business was a natural extension of her naturopathic work, where she’d blend teas for clinic patients who were particularly low in vital energy.
Realising that everyone kept coming back for more, she launched her business at the local market with 12 herbal loose-leaf teas, and six years later, OM Tea now stock an extensive premium range of 35 different herbal teas, all naturopathically formulated and 100% Australian Certified Organic.
About the tea
Since starting, OM Tea has grown to include several ranges of tea including the more traditional teas, fruit based teas, pregnancy and breastfeeding tea, iced teas and the more recently launched mantra range of teas.
With 35 different teas to choose from, it’s safe to say there’s something for everyone. All the teas are made from the highest quality, organic, loose leaf herbal infusion. The loose leaf tea is hand-blended and minimally processed (the way we like it!) which of course means that the nutrients are at their highest potential.
Love the planet, Love the packaging
Chalimah is a self-confessed hippy at heart, so two years ago she went about overhauling all her packaging to be as earth-friendly as possible.
The entire range is presented in reusable glass jars and biodegradable sachet boxes made from 100% Australian recycled paper with a compostable plant-based cello-bag. It’s all either 100% biodegradable, compostable or recyclable. It looks beautiful and keeps the earth beautiful too!
